Tackle Football

Tackle Football Program (Grades 3-7)

Registration for the 2024 season will be open from March 1st, 2024 ~ March 31st, 2024

Tackle Football (Grades 3 – 7) - Registration for the 2024 season will be open from March 1st, 2024 ~ March 31st, 2024

A-Team = Grades 6-7, B-Team = Grades 4-5,  C-Team = Grade 3

  • We offer 1 team at each age level with a maximum of 35 players per team for A & B-Teams, and 20 for C-Team.
  • It is at our discretion to determine if a player is not ready for tackle football due to safety concerns.
  • A second team at each level will only be added if we have the appropriate number of volunteers available to host football games, and we have the appropriate number of qualified volunteer coaches.  Each team requires having a certified medic as well.  Lack of volunteerism is also affecting our flexibility in this regard.
  • Sportsmanship, Security, and Safety concerns have placed a higher level of scrutiny on how many teams we are able to offer.

This is a competitive league meant for travel tackle football players only.  Our Tackle Football program focuses on the fundamental skills required for BLOCKING and TACKLING.  The goal of the program is to help young players develop character and toughness within the game of football and learn the strategies involved in playing defense and running the football.  It provides great development for Lineman, Linebackers, and Running Backs to prepare them for the High School Level.

(Young Players looking to specialize at QB or WR should consider our Advanced/Elite Flag program for position specific development in the passing aspect of football)

Our Tackle Football teams play in the Rochester Youth Football & Cheer league (RYFC)  https://www.ryfc.org/ which is made up of 16 teams from local towns.  We do our best to have a voice on the board of the RYFC league, to help put our players on a level playing field in the appropriate divisions with competing teams from other towns.  Please keep in mind that players progress on all different timetables and this can be difficult to manage.  We also do not have complete control over the teams on the other sideline.  Before signing up for this level of football please be mindful of this and be sure your athlete is ready for tackling contact and competing at a high level.

Safety is our utmost concern for all our players.  Starting a player in tackle football before they are ready can result in them losing confidence, being injured, as well as unintentionally creating situations for injuries to their teammates.  If you have any questions on whether your player is ready for this experience, please consider starting with our Advanced Flag program to start the process of getting them ready for travel tackle football.

The Tackle Football level is a significant time commitment as practice are 4 days a week beginning the 1st week of August.  Once games begin practice transitions to 3 days a week (typically T/TH/Sat) with games on Sundays.  Regular season games continue through October concluding with playoffs.  Championship weekend is typically the last weekend of October.
*  Attending practices is of the upmost importance.  Players who do not attend practice will not be prepared to play in a competitive tackle football game and will be held out.  Before registering, please confirm that you are able to attend all regularly scheduled practices.
